The Office of Budget & Planning establishes and maintains the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) budget as appropriated by the Mississippi Legislature. This budget, which totals over $3 billion, includes funding from state, federal and other special sources for internal agency operations and disbursement to Mississippi’s public schools.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Office of Budget & Planning prepares and submits the agency\u2019s annual budget request to the Mississippi Legislative Budget Office (LBO), calculates the Mississippi Department of Education\u2019s indirect cost rate and provides assistance with fiscal year planning to program offices.<\/p>\n
