{"id":2485,"date":"2024-01-17T20:55:12","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T20:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpdev01.mdek12.org\/communications\/?p=2485"},"modified":"2024-08-08T14:18:20","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T14:18:20","slug":"new-site-high-school-vancleave-lower-elementary-named-2023-national-esea-distinguished-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wpdev01.mdek12.org\/communications\/2024\/01\/17\/new-site-high-school-vancleave-lower-elementary-named-2023-national-esea-distinguished-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"New Site High School, Vancleave Lower Elementary named 2023 National ESEA Distinguished Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEWS RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For Immediate Release: \u00a0January 17, 2024<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Site High School, Vancleave Lower Elementary named 2023 National ESEA Distinguished Schools<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>JACKSON, Miss. \u2013 New Site High School in the Prentiss County School District and Vancleave Lower Elementary School in the Jackson County School District are among 65 schools nationwide named 2023 National Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Distinguished Schools for the extraordinary success of their students.<\/p>\n<p>The National\u00a0Association of\u00a0ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA) \u2014 formerly the National Title I Association \u2014 has been selecting examples of superior,\u00a0federally funded schools for national recognition through the National ESEA Distinguished Schools\u00a0program since 1996. The program\u00a0has annually acknowledged the success of hundreds of schools in one of three categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exceptional student performance and academic growth<\/li>\n<li>Closing the achievement gap between student groups<\/li>\n<li>Excellence in serving special populations of students (e.g. homeless, migrant, English learners, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>New Site High School received the recognition for exceptional student performance for two consecutive years, and Vancleave Lower Elementary School received the recognition for closing the achievement gap between student groups.<\/p>\n<p>NAESPA implemented the National ESEA Distinguished Schools Program to highlight selected schools that have effectively used their ESEA federal funds to improve education outcomes for students.
