This office is focused on improving\u00a0academic and behavioral outcomes for students. Staff coordinate\u00a0the local implementation of policies and procedures and provide\u00a0professional development on Multi-Tiered System of Supports\u00a0(MTSS) for school-based teams, administrators, staff,\u00a0and parents.<\/p>\n<p>The office also offers guidance and\u00a0professional development opportunities for educators and parents related to intervention selection, data-based decision making, evaluation, progress monitoring, dyslexia, gifted learners, and English learners to ensure all students graduate high school ready for college and career.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Three Tier Instructional Model\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The Three Tier Instructional Model is a part of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdek12.org\/sites\/default\/files\/Offices\/MDE\/OAE\/OEER\/Intervention\/part3_chapter41.1_interventionpolicy.pdf\">State Board\u00a0Policy 41.1<\/a>). This model is\u00a0designed to meet the needs of every student and consists of three tiers of instruction:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tier 1:<\/strong> Quality classroom instruction based on Mississippi standards.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tier 2: <\/strong>Focused supplemental instruction.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tier 3: <\/strong>Intensive interventions specifically designed to meet the individual needs of students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If\u00a0Tier\u00a01 and\u00a02 instruction is unsuccessful, students must be referred to the Teacher Support Team (TST). The TST is the local team\u00a0responsible for interventions developed at Tier 3. Each school must have a TST implemented in accordance with the process developed by the Mississippi Department of Education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Family Guides for Student
