{"id":2168,"date":"2024-05-17T16:28:36","date_gmt":"2024-05-17T16:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpdev01.mdek12.org\/federalprograms\/?page_id=2168"},"modified":"2024-05-17T16:29:09","modified_gmt":"2024-05-17T16:29:09","slug":"title-i-part-a-neglected","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wpdev01.mdek12.org\/federalprograms\/title-i-part-a-neglected\/","title":{"rendered":"Title I Part A (Neglected)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Title I, Part A Neglected (Set-Aside) is a mandatory reservation taken from a Local Education Agency\u2019s (LEA) Title I Part A allocation for comparable services to students who reside in eligible institutions for Neglected children within the boundaries of the LEA.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Eligibility<\/h4>\n<p>An eligible Neglected Institution\/Facility is a public or private residential facility, other than a foster home, that is operated for the care of children and youth who have been committed to the institution or voluntarily placed in the institution under applicable state laws due to abandonment, neglect or death of their parents or guardians. ESEA Sec. 1432(4)(A)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Purpose of Funding<\/h4>\n<p>Funds are designated by the Local Educational Agencies (LEA) to:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"LEA1\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"21f4e93d-baf8-4859-8722-aa5c10e4d33a\" src=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/lea1111_0.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>General Considerations<\/h4>\n<p>Programs and activities supported by Title I, Part A, Neglected funds must be:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"LEA2\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"f9abbb7d-a946-49c0-845a-be7e6042fd3f\" src=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-images\/lea2_0.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Supplement Not Supplant<\/h4>\n<p>In accordance with the Supplement Not Supplant Methodology of determination described in section 1118(b)(2), a school participating in a schoolwide program shall use funds available to carry out Title I, Part A programs to supplement the amount of funds that would, in the absence of funds under this part, be made available from non-Federal sources for the school, including funds needed to provide services that are required by law for children with disabilities and English learners.
