Program Entrance Requirements:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

1. Bachelors degree from a regionally\/nationally accredited institution of higher learning<\/p>\n

2. Twenty-one (21) ACT (or SAT equivalent) OR achieve a qualifying passing score on the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators examination OR verification of 3.0 overall GPA on a baccalaureate transcript or last 60 hours course credit established by the State Board of Education<\/p>\n

3. Praxis Subject Assessment (Specialty Area Test)<\/p>\n

4. **Foundations of Reading exam<\/p>\n

**The Mississippi Foundations of Reading<\/a><\/strong><\/u> exam is required to obtain a license in Mild\/Moderate Disability K-12<\/span>, and for Elementary Education (4-6)<\/span> and Elementary Education (K-6)<\/span>.<\/p>\n

\n

Requirements for the Three -year Alternate Route License:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

1. Complete program entrance requirements<\/p>\n

2. Complete nine (9) hours pre-teaching course requirements<\/p>\n

3. Online recommendation from approved program<\/p>\n

\n

Requirements for the Five-year Alternate Route License:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

1. Meet Three-year Alternate Route requirements<\/p>\n

2. Six (6) semester hours including the internship<\/p>\n

3. Online recommendation from approved program<\/p>\n

AND (IF APPLICABLE):<\/span><\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

4. Eighteen hours of additional Master of Arts in Teaching coursework required for either an Elementary Education K-6** or Mild\/Moderate Disability K-12** license.<\/p>\n

**The Mississippi Foundations of Reading<\/a><\/strong><\/u> exam is required to obtain a license in Mild\/Moderate Disability K-12<\/span>, and for Elementary Education (4-6)<\/span> and Elementary Education (K-6)<\/span>.<\/p>\n
