Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)-MS

The National Science Foundation is currently accepting nominations and applications from exceptional 7-12th;Science, Math, and Technology teachers for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) program. The nomination deadline is January 9, 2023, and all applications and completed portfolios MUST be submitted through the PAEMST portal by February 6, 2023, for consideration.

PAEMST are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government, specifically for K– 12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science teaching.

Presidential Awardees receive:

  • A citation signed by the President of the United States.
  • A trip to Washington, D.C., to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities.
  • A $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
  • Access to a network of award-winning teachers from across the country.

Nominations:
Anyone can make a nomination. Parents, students, fellow educators, or public members can nominate a 7th-12th teacher who teaches science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or computer science as part of their teaching responsibilities. Teachers may also self-nominate by starting an application.

National Awardees also join an active network of outstanding educators from throughout the nation. Since 1983, more than 5,100 teachers have been recognized for their classroom contributions and their professional accomplishments.

NOTE: Each year PAEMST alternates between recognizing K-6 and 7-12 grade STEM teachers. The 2023-24 PAEMST cycle will open nominations and applications to teachers who teach science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer science in grades K-6.
